About Me

Hi, I'm glad you're here. I'm Kelsie. I'm a native of Fort Worth, Texas. I went to Texas Christian University (TCU) and studied Strategic Communication (Advertising/Public Relations) and Political Science. I took a hard pivot and entered the world of public education after college through a non-profit called Teach for America. My parents were both teachers, and we have many teachers in our family. It just felt right. I later earned my Master's in Educational Policy and Planning from The University of Texas at Austin. It's hard to believe, but I have now been working in public education full-time for almost 20 years. I am very passionate about ensuring all kids have access to excellent education.

That's all very meaningful and wonderful, but I desperately needed a creative outlet, so here we are. I'm leaning into courage, and sharing my photography, my writing, and my art with the world.

My love for photography: I think I first asked for a camera for Christmas when I was about ten years old. I love capturing people, just as they are. My focus in my photography is classic, authentic portraits and families.

My love for art: My family has owned and operated an art gallery and framing business for over 55 years. Creating art feels like home to me. It brings me so much joy.

My love for writing: Y'all, I have loved writing since I was a little girl. Truly, my parents and teachers had to stop me from writing all.the.time when I needed to do other things. My writing home is a Substack publication where I share life and lessons from therapy, motherhood, and personal growth.

I have two young children who inspire so much of the work you see here.

Thank you for being here.

Thank you for believing in me.
